Description: The school was built by the Sisters of Mercy of Brooklyn in 1928. In response to the tremendous growth of post-war Long Island, Our Lady of Mercy Academy was transformed from a boarding school to a local institution in 1964. The campus occupies 96 acres and the most prominent feature of the school, a 117-foot tall colonial tower, was modelled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
