In a game that demonstrated both team’s mettle, St. Anthony’s and Sacred Heart played to a 2-2 draw. There is no overtime in the Catholic League.
Each team scored a goal apiece in each half as Sacred Heart (6-0-1) drew first blood on a goal by Madasci. But, three minutes later senior forward Jen Meier tallied the equalizer.
The identical pattern was followed in the second half as the Spartans gained a short lived lead as Speck scored. However, two minutes later at the 52-munte mark junior forward Rachel Nuzzelese knotted the game at 2 for the Friars (6-0-1, 6-2-1).
What was supposed to be a rebuilding year for St. Anthony’s, according to coach Dave Prutting is turning out to be pretty successful. “We are doing better than I thought,” Prutting said, “they are coming together and doing okay.”
