In their first dual meet of the season the Friars captured first through seventh place to complete a 15-50 victory over St. John the Baptist on the 2.5-mile course at Sunken Meadow.

The “perfect” score according to coach Tim Dearie was keyed by the running of senior Robert Cherkis and Todd Sather, along with junior Patrick Murphy who ran together and all finished in 14:11.

“It was our first meet of the season and we are not too worried about time,” Dearie said, “I told them to run it together and have a hard run.”

Juniors Ken Walshak and Nicholas Brennan posted times of 14:16 and 14:30, respectively in the fourth and fifth spots.
